One of my coworkers sent me a link to this. Pretty good article.

That was an interesting read. Thanks for posting. I assume that the article's a bit old as few of the links still work, but I did get one new thing out of it: The Earth Shoe. That link too was broken, but I must Google it now. Perhaps I can add it to my list of VISIONs, an acronym of my own coining that stands for Verifiably Ingenious Systems of an "If Only..." Nature.

Current VISIONs that I'm aware of:
    Dvorak Keyboard
    Macintosh Computer
    Esperanto
    Metric System of Measure
    Flat Tax
    Wankel Rotary Engine
    Betamax Video Format
    Earth Shoe (???)

Anybody know of any I'm missing?

Well, the metric system and the rotary engine have at least gotten popular enough to be genuinely useful (especially the metric system; I have to say I'm honestly not convinced that should be on this list, maybe the Imperial system should be substituted instead), and the Mac is still a player despite Apple's consistently short-sighted approach to marketing. Dvorak, Beta, Esperanto, and Socialism, however, need some more work before they get accepted... :)
